Terry as a middle-aged leather trader hose repeated failure in career made him a depressed man， often plaining that he had been cheated by others. One day he told his ife he as so diappointed ith the city that he had to leave.
So his family moved to another city. It as the evening of a eekend. When Terry and his ife ere busily occupied in tidying up their ne home， the light suddenly ent out. Terry as regretful to have forgetten bringing along candles and to ait helplessly in a lo mood.Just then he heard light， hesitated knocks on his door that ere clearly audible in the quiet night.
“Who's it?”he ondered. Terry had no acquaintances in the ne city， and this as the moment he especially hated to be disturbed. So he ent to the door and opened it impatiently. At the door as a little girl， shyly asking，“Sir， do you have candles?I'm your neighbor.”“No，”ansered Terry in anger and shut the door abruptly.“What a nuisance!” he plained over it ith his ife.“No sooner had e settled don than the neighbor came to borro things.”
After a hile， the door as knocked again. He opened it and found the same girl outside.But this time she as holding to candles， saying，“My grandma told me the ne neighbor donstairs might need candles. She sent me here to give you these.”Terry as struck dumb by hat he sa.
At that moment he suddenly realized hat caused his failure in life. It as his coldness and harshness ith other people. The person ho had cheated him in life as actually nobody else but himself， for his eyes had been blurred by his unsympathetic mind.
